Shupti Shaha

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from University of Development Alternative, Bangladesh. I later pursued my Post-Graduation in Pharmaceutical Technology at King’s College London, UK, with my thesis entitled “Characterizing Theophylline Ion-Pair Formation in Binary Solvents”. I then returned to Bangladesh and worked in the cardiovascular therapeutic area in a renowned pharmaceutical company named, Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Ltd. I joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UMass Dartmouth as a PhD student in fall 2023. In the Jia lab, my research focuses on elucidating the structural basis of HIV-1 protein Vpu-mediated degradation of the CD4 receptor. Outside my research, I love spending time with my family, listening to music and traveling.
