Jacob Kress

I received my B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and minor in Biology from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in 2016. I am currently a PhD student in Dr. Jia’s lab. My current work involves elucidating protein structures to help understand the interplay between HIV-1 and the immune system. At my time at UMass Dartmouth I have had the opportunity to instruct/TA Introduction to Applied Chemistry (CHM 161/162) and Preparation for College Chemistry (CHM 100). I won the chemistry department graduate teaching award in 2019.  Outside of research I enjoy homebrewing, gardening, snowboarding and football.
